A new face at BR-ND

Hi there! I am Luuk van Noord, and I am the new intern at BR-ND People.

I am a third year Creative Business student at the University of Applied Sciences in Utrecht. CB is a study that focuses on the newest technologies, international marketing, and media, all with a creative and cross-cultural spin to it. This might give you the appearance of a very broad study, and you would be right! But that’s what I like about it. This year I have been given the opportunity to develop myself further and finally focus on what I consider to be important. First with my minor abroad, and now with my internship!

I have spent the last four months in Ireland, where I studied Visual Design at the Waterford Institute of Technology for my minor. This subject attracted me because I developed an affinity for branding during the second year of my study. I love the idea of helping a brand figure out who they want to be, what they stand for and what their path looks like. This process is inherently visual, so with my new knowledge about design and everything I learned about marketing back home I knew I was prepared to start my journey consulting brands.

I’m sure we all know about the climate crisis heading our way. But I believe that not enough companies have entertained the idea that maybe they too could play a role in what should be the bare minimum, caring for Mother Earth. That is why I am especially excited to start working with BR-ND people. Their commitment to social and environmental responsibility illuminated the room the very first time I walked through the door. Knowing that the goal of the effort I put into my work won’t be to maximize profits for a handful of shareholders, but instead to help people that truly want to better our world, motivates me. Another appeal that BR-ND has for me is the incredibly neoteric, transcultural workspace, one where I’m sure I’ll fit right in!

I look forward to working with BR-ND People. I still have lots to learn so I can’t wait to figure out the ins and outs of the profession. What do the processes look like? How can I identify a brand’s strengths and weaknesses? How can I integrate a sustainable message in the work that I do?  Next to answers to these kinds of questions I hope to help improve the visual aspects of BR-ND and apply all the skills I have developed in the last few months. At last, I expect to find passion in the work I do and have a ton of fun!
