Serious fun with Wendy Wen

Nice to meet you! A short introduction of the intern.

Hey there! My name is Wendy Wen. I am currently working on developing a serious game for 23plusone. I’d love to introduce myself so you can know me more!

I came from China, and I am studying Industrial design engineering at Utwente of Twente. I enjoy travelling, reading and trying different things ( food, wine, instrument, sport…… You name it!) I always love to meet new people as well. It is a great way to connect with the world and find different philosophies of life. In this way, I always try to be a good listener with an open mind and respect. 

I’ve been in the Netherlands for almost three years, the cultural difference gave me a bit of challenge at the beginning and many funny moments. But in the end, the environment helped me discover who I truly am. I enjoyed every bit of this adventure, and I will continue it with a positive mind. I believe all the experiences will add up to each other and enrich your life.

One of the keywords I’d like to share about being a happier person is “fun”. I enjoy having fun, even with regular and small things in life. I also love to share it with people around me. I studied game design in my minor, and it gave me many new perspectives on what is “fun” and how to design a fun experience. I find it very interesting, for it is one of the fundamental values that drive us to be happy, but it is so basal we often ignore it. Speaking from a designer angle, every detail in the experience can influence the “fun” feeling of the users. But if we apply it in our life, there are many details that we can find fun and give us a little more happiness. Here I want to share with you that having fun is one of the instincts we have, don’t ignore it. Be more open to discovering “fun” and find small things in life that bring you joy. At the end of the day, maybe you will find that happiness is not that difficult to see from life.
